Our Projects

Children & Teenage Ministry

Ray of Hope believes children are a fundamental aspect of the church and of the future. We work with children in every village we visit to teach them the importance of Jesus as a foundation of their lives.

Relief Work

Ray of Hope works to make the lives of villagers better. Each year, the river rises and falls around 80 feet. Often, the river floods and forces people to abandon their homes to relocate, or live on their roofs. We work to ensure those that are hungry are fed, those who are sick receive medical attention, and those who are in need hear about Jesus. During the COVID-19 pandemic we switched gears and provided relief buckets to help stop the spread of the virus.

Mission Trips

Each year, we take 5-10 international teams to indigenous villages along the Amazon and Rio Negro Rivers. These trips are generally 7-15 days long and are with church groups or college teams made up of 10-25 people. We travel, eat and sleep on a boat bringing all supplies with us so we can access the communities living along the river basin.

Pastor Support

We have met and developed relationships with hard-working Pastors and Missionaries living in communities along the river who are doing God’s work everyday. We send monthly support to these families so they can continue their work and regularly reach out to them to offer prayer and encouragement.

Special Needs Support

Amongst the river communities, special needs children are considered cursed and villagers fear this will mean the village will also be cursed. Because of these false beliefs, the villagers often cast out small children and their families that have special needs. If they are allowed to stay in the community, the chief often orders for the rest of the village to be wary of them. In turn, these children and their families lack the most basic care and support. Ray of Hope teaches parents as well as the community about Jesus’ love for special needs kids and teaches them how to provide proper care. We also provide medical care, wheelchairs, monthly support, and food bags as needed

Psychological Therapy

Here at Ray of Hope we understand the importance of speaking with someone who you can trust. We have an on staff psychologist that meets with people and kids from the community each week. Depression, anxiety and other mental challenges are not limited to the cities. We’ve seen so much of God’s grace come through these psychological meetings; helping many to understand the importance of their mental health.
